MP Assy pays tributes to departed leaders

Bhopal, Oct 31 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Assembly was adjourned for the day today after members paid tributes to several departed leaders, including MLA Kishorilal Verma, former Vidhan Sabha Speaker Rajendra Prasad Shukl and BSP Founder Kanshiram.

Speaker Ishwardas Rohani read out the obituary references and adjourned the House after obeisance was paid to famous shehnai exponent Bismillah Khan, former Uttar Pradesh Governor Suraj Bhan, former Karnataka Governor Bhanupratap Singh, former Union Ministers Nandini Satpathi and Ravindra Verma, former MPs Yogananda Saraswati and Krishna Singh and former MLAs Sukhendra Singh, Raghuveer Singh, Ranveer Singh Shastri and Deewan Bhagwat Singh.

The members paid tributes to those died in the Sindhu river tragedy in Datia district and other accidents.

Among those who paid tributes were the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Leader of Opposition Jamuna Devi, Samajwadi Party member Vijay Bhahadur Singh and other members of the House.

Later, a two-minute silence was observed and the House was adjourned for the day.

Ms Devi and CPI(M) member Ramlakhan Sharma made reference to the death of Ujjain's Madhav College Professor H S Sabharwal and paid tributes to him.

Opposition members described the murder of BJP MLA Kishorilal Verma as unfortunate and raised the issue of security of legislators.

The winter session, which is scheduled to conclude on November 10, will have a total of nine sittings.
