Mixed colour on Day 2 of traders 'bandh' in Capital

New Delhi, Oct 31 (UNI) Even as the Monitoring Committee announced that sealing in the Capital would resume from November 2, traders today threatened to go on an indefinite strike if the operation continued ''as planned''.

However, providing a day's relief, sealing of commercial establishments in the Capital would not resume tomorrow, as planned earlier, owing to the ongoing three-day 'Delhi Bandh' by traders, the Supreme Court appointed Monitoring Committee on Sealing said today.

The traders said they would chalk out their future course of action tomorrow and were keeping ''all options'', including going on an indefinite strike, open to protest the resuming of the sealing operation.

Meanwhile, day two of 'Delhi bandh' evoked a mixed response with some of the main markets opening shops though most big markets remained closed.

Despite incidents of traffic blocking at several places and effigy burning reported in various commercial areas, law and order in the Capital remained under control.

Police said it received no reports of any violence from any corner, though minor traffic snarls were reported from some arreas.

Demonstrations by traders were also held accross the nine districts of the Capital though nothing major was reported.

Among the main markets, Connaught Place, South Extension and Khan Market remained open. This, market associations said, was in accordance to their decision of keeping a one-day 'bandh' to show solidarity.

Chemists, who had observed a one-day bandh yesterday, opened their shops today.

Government and most public schools were alos open though attendance remained thin.
