Militants attack foreign troops in Afghanistan
KABUL, Oct 31 (Reuters) Suspected militants attacked a convoy of foreign troops in Afghanistan's eastern province of Nuristan today, inflicting casualties, Afghan sources and a NATO official said.
''We have heard reports of an attack and that there are a number of casualties,'' Flt Lt. Sarah Meleady, a media officer with NATO forces, said. Details of the attack were not immediately available.
Both NATO and US-led coalition troops operate in Nuristan where Taliban insurgents and militants loyal to a former prime minister and militant leader Gulbuddin Hekmatyar are active.
