Meet on critical thinking begins in AP
Vijayawada, Oct 31 (UNI) A week-long international conference on 'Critical thinking and free inquiry in education' commenced here.
More than 50 youth leaders from the US, Australia, Norway, Finland and The Netherlands among other countries were taking part.
Organised by the International Humanist and Ethical Youth Organisation (IHEYO) yesterday the conference will discuss the practices and methods of teaching people on critical thinking and sharing ideas for further collaboration.
IHEYO President Lars Petter Helgestad said the conference marked a milestone for international youth humanism.
It was for the first time so many young humanists had joined together in India marking the promising developments in the field in the sub-continent.
Mr Helgestad said young humanists should work towards empowering people and ensuring equal opportunities for every one.
Critical thinking and free inquiry were important thinking tools and personal attitudes to foster. When people learnt to assess information and make up their own minds, they had more control over their lives.
