Berhampur, Oct 31 (UNI) The CPI (Maoist) has criticised the Orissa government for its ''false'' propaganda involving the Maoists in the killing of the South Western Range DIG Jaswinder Singh.

In a signed letter circulated to some newspersons here, CPI(Maoist) Orissa state organising committee secretary Sunil said the state government tried to eclipse the resentment in the police force by dragging Maoists in the killing of Mr Singh.

Such a campaign by the state government was a conspiracy to deploy more CRPF forces to combat the Maoists, he remarked.

Sunil said they expressed happiness over the killing of DIG Jaswinder Singh adding that the 'Praja Court' should have executed the DIG as he was promoted to the post after initiating nasty steps against the Naxal cadre in the recent past.

The DIG, the Maoists leader said, was killed by his bodyguards on October 23 last due to the internal wrangling in the police force.

The general public must welcome the death of the DIG, the letter said.

It said the state government had registered cases against the bodyguards of the DIG under section 302 of the IPC whereas the police personnel, who shot dead many innocent tribals and poor people in Gopalpu, Mandrabaju, Chilka, Raighar, Maikunch and Kalinga Nagar in the recent past, had gone scot-free.

These police personnel responsible for the killing of innocent tribals must be booked under section 302 of the IPC, Sunil demanded.

He said the demand for three more districts in Orissa to be treated as Maoist affected and combing operations in some areas by harassing 'innocent tribal' soon after the killing of DIG reflected the attitude of false propaganda against the Maoists.

The outfit had severely criticised the action of the police in 'forcefully pulling out the moustache' of Ullas Raika (50) a resident of Tabarada village under Kirama panchayat in Nuagarh block in Gajapati district recently.

Police, it said, had paraded him on the streets in many villages to create a fear-psychosis among the people after branding Ullas as a Naxalite. The police action had forced the male members of about twenty villages under Mohana and Nuagarh block in Gajapati district to flee to the forests, the letter said.
