Kut festival to be celebrated in Manipur tomorrow

Imphal, Oct 31 (UNI) The post-harvest festival of Kuki-Chin-Mizo people, Kut, will be celebrated in Manipur tomorrow.

The state government and the Kut festival committee(state level) would observe the festival at the First Manipur Rifles in Imphal.

The day-long celebrations would be marked with cultural programmes, Miss Kut contest, songs etc.

Official sources said the festival would be celebrated in almost every block in the state.

The Kuki Liberation Army, a militant outfit, has told the organisers not to conduct Miss Kut contest.

"Publicity secretary" of the outfit Malsawm Kuki said celebrating Chavang Kut should not be celebrated in an extravagant manner.

The organising committee, however, would go ahead with their programme as scheduled and announced a list for the Miss Contest and announced a sum of Rs 50,000 for the winner.
