Kerala Cabinet approves draft Ordinance on speed governors

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 31 (UNI) The Kerala Cabinet today approved a draft Ordinance to overcome the provisions of a Supreme Court order that made it compulsory to install speed governors by all heavy vehicles, even as the indefinite strike by bus and truck owners entered the second day.

Briefing newspersons here after a meeting of the State Cabinet, Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan said the Ordinance would be sent to the President for his accent.

Mr Achuthanandan said the government would also seek legal opinion on the issue of filing a review petition in the Supreme Court on the issue of making the installation of speed governors mandatory in all heavy vehicles in Kerala.
