Jora reviews measures for regular power supply during winter in J
Srinagar, Oct 31 (UNI) As the winter is fast approaching the valley, Jammu and Kashmir government has geared up to meet the challenge of power crisis.
An official spokesman said that a meeting of Power Development Department (PDD) Engineers was held here today under the chairmanship of Minister for Power Nawang Rigzin Jora to ensure regular power supply during the winter months when the temperature goes down to minus and local power generation comes down.
The Minister asked the authorities to gear up its all units to ensure adequate availability of power to the consumers in the winter months.
He announced that the power supply in metered areas will be available round the clock. However, the curtailment programme will be framed to ensure that no inconvenience is caused to the consumers.
He instructed the concerned authorities to speed up installation of electric meters and stressed for launching special drive to recover electricity tariff.
The Minister expressed satisfaction over the commissioning of 400 KV Kishenpora-Wagoora line saying that it will lead power stabilization in the valley particularly during the winter season.
