Jalandhar, Oct 31 (UNI) India and Pakistan will play a Goodwill Hockey Test Series in March next year, Indian Hockey Federation (IHF) President KPS Gill said today.

Talking to reporters here, Mr Gill said four to five matches would be played in both the countries in the proposed series.

He said further details and modalities for the series were being worked out.

Mr Gill said holding of hockey matches between India and Pakistan had good impact on bilateral relations between the two neighbours.

He added that the IHF is planning to change the format of the National Hockey Championship from the next edition of the tournament.

Mr Gill said the federation felt the present format needed to be changed and the same was being contemplated.

But the changes were presently at the stage of discussion before the federation and appropriate decision would be taken in the due course, he said.

The 62nd edition of the National Championship is being held at the Burlton Park Surjit Hockey Stadium here and the next edition of the tournament would also be hosted by Punjab next year.
