India provides assistance for education sector in Nepal

Kathmandu, Oct 31 (UNI) India has provided a grant assistance of Nepali Rs 3,77,21,543 for the construction of school building and college in Nepal.

The following two Memoranda of Understanding (MOU's) were signed today by the Embassy of India, Kathmandu with the District Development Committee, Dang and Shree Bal Janata Higher Secondary School, Bangaun, Deukhuiri, Dang, and the District Development Committee, Syangja and Galyang Multiple Campus, Galyang, Syangja.

Under the MoUs, Government of India will be providing a cooperation grant of Nepali Rs 1,99,95,045 for the construction of the school building and boundary wall for Shree Bal Janata Higher Secondary School, Dang and Nepali Rs 1,77,26,498 for the construction of the campus building and provision of furniture for Galyang Multiple Campus, Galyang, Syangja.

''These two projects, which are the first educational projects in Dang and Syangja Districts under the India-Nepal Economic Cooperation Programme, are expected to greatly contribute to the development of education in these areas by providing improved infrastructure for learning. Monitoring committees have been constituted for these projects consisting of representatives from campus/school management committees and local administration of Dang and Syangja Districts to oversee the projects, supervise the construction work and ensure proper utilisation of the cooperation grant,'' a statement from Indian Embassy said.

Government of India's commitment to strengthening and diversifying relations with Nepal through economic cooperation is steadfast and will be intensified further in the coming months, it is said.
