Huge cache of arms recovered

Guwahati, Oct 31 (UNI) Huge quantity of arms and ammunition meant for ULFA was recovered by the Asom Police last night near Jorabat on the Asom-Meghalaya border.

Addressing a news conference here today, senior Superintendent of Police, Guwahati, Nitul Gogoi said in the cache there were eight pistols, nine M-20 riles, 15 Austrian made grenades, 450 rounds of .762 rifles and 18 rounds of Magazine of M 20 rifles.

This was by far the biggest catch of arms and ammunition meant for ULFA.

According to Mr Gogoi, it came from Bangladesh.

Police also arrested one Prabal Chetia and one Basanta Deka along with driver Biren Mahato from the spot.
