Hizb militant among 2 killed; constable abducted in J

Srinagar, Oct 31 (UNI) A Hizbul Mujahideen militant was among two people killed while ultras abducted a police constable and two others in Jammu and Kashmir during the past 24 hours, an official spokesman said today.

During a search operation, security forces seized a huge cache of arms, including 16 pistols, 32 magazines, 750 rounds, 120 pika rounds, 57 hand grenades and 35 UBGL grenades at Maidan Post near the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir last evening.

A Hizb militant, identified as Noor Mohammad, alias Javed Barki, was killed in an encounter between a joint party of the state police and security forces and ultras at Nandna village in Doda district of Jammu region last evening, the spokesman said.

One pistol, two magazines and five rounds were seized from the slain militant, he added.

Militants abducted three people, including a police constable, from Shadole, Gulabgarh in Udhampur district of Jammu region last evening, the spokesman said, adding ultras later killed one of them, identified as Nissar Ahmad, and wounded another Bashir Ahmad before leaving the area.

However, constable Abdul Rehman of the Gool Police Station was still in the captivity of militants. A manhunt has been launched in the entire area to trace the kidnapped and the abductors.

A group of four militants set ablaze the house of Ali Mohammad at the Lancha sector in Mahore area of Doda district last evening after forcing the residents out. The fire soon engulfed a nearby house.

Militants took away an Indica car of Suneel Kumar from Kareemabad in south Kashmir district of Pulwama last evening. Police have launched a massive hunt to trace the car.

Security forces apprehended a suspected militant at Tantraypor Tangmarg in Baramulla district and seized two hand grenades, one AK magazine and ten rounds from him.

During a search operation at Bajla Khari in Doda district last evening, security forces seized four AK magazines, 75 rounds, 2 UBGL shells and one antenna.
