Puducherry, Oct 31(UNI) Former US President Jimmy Carter today reiterated the commitment of the 'Habitat for Harmony' to reconstruct the tsunami-ravaged coastal areas of Tamil Nadu.

Handing over the keys of 13 houses constructed by the Habitat for Harmony at Anumanthai in Villippuram District of Tamil Nadu, Mr Carter said currently 2,500 volunteers were constructing 100 houses in Mumbai and the programme was underway not only in India but also in ten other nations hit by tsunami.

The Leprosy Mission was among the important partners of the Habitat for Harmony. It was not a sacrifice but a great pleasure to come all the way to the village and mingle with the residents, Mr Carter said.

Tomorrow, Mr Carter and his wife would be leaving for Thailand, he added.
