Every AP village to have phone facility by 2008: Official

Vijayawada, Oct 31 (UNI) BSNL Andhra Pradesh Circle Chief General Manager R K Arnold today said the BSNL would provide telephone facility to every village with a population of 1,000 by 2008 in the state.

Addressing a gathering at the Sanchar Sarathi and Sanchar Seva Padak Awards function here, Mr Arnold said this would enable BSNL to provide services to nook and corner of the state.

The BSNL manged to have a good subscriber base despite competition from private players, he said.

The AP Circle at present earned revenues of Rs 3,000 crore per annum. It had about 30 lakh landline subscribers and 15 lakh mobile connections.

Later, Mr Arnold presented the awards to the staff members.
