European champions Barcelona need Nou Camp win

LONDON, Oct 31 (Reuters) European champions Barcelona face a nervous night in the Nou Camp today with Frank Rijkaard's side needing three points against Chelsea to stay on track for the knockout phase.

With three matches completed in Group A, Chelsea top the standings with nine points followed by Barcelona and Werder Bremen on four. Werder are away to Bulgaria's Levski Sofia on the same night.

''We need the points, definitely. I have learned nothing from the game at Chelsea - only that we lost and we didn't play well,'' Rijkaard said of the 1-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge two weeks ago.

Bayern Munich, who host Sporting in Group B, and Valencia, who visit Shakhtar Donetsk in Group D, can seal their place in the last 16 with victories.

Liverpool and PSV Eindhoven, who both have seven points from three Group C matches, could also advance.

Five-times European champions Liverpool welcome Girondins Bordeaux to Anfield while PSV host Galatasaray.

Liverpool coach Rafael Benitez believes Bordeaux will provide stiff opposition, despite his side winning their first encounter 1-0 in France.

''They will try and play football. They are bottom of the group and it will be difficult for them to qualify,'' he said.
