ESPN Star Sports now on mobiles too

New Delhi, Oct 31 (UNI) One can have all sports on one's finger tips while on the move with ESPN Star Sports launching its specialised feature service 'Mobile ESPN' from November 15.

Apart from cricket information, subscribers to the service can have latest updates from international soccer matches, Sportscentre news, exclusive interviews and sports schedule of all sports events.

''With Mobile ESPN in your hand your daily schedule will now not come in the way of getting the latest on the coming India-South Africa series, Ashes series and a host other sports event in the coming season,'' said ESPN MD RC Venkataesh said after announcing launch of the service here today.

One unique feature of the service is that one can acccess information about any match irrespective of the channel broadcasting it. This service has never been offerred in the country before, he said.

Mobile ESPN will give reviews and analyses from experts of panels from an panel of experts, including Harsha Bhogle and Wasim Akram every time a user dials 505-ESPN (3776) to get updates on any ongoing cricket match.

The service will cover every possible game in all possible formats-voice, video, text and SMS. It will be available on major telecom networks of the country, initially in English and Hindi and later in six India languages.

Monthly subscription will range fro Rs 50 to Rs 100.

''There will be sea change in the way content is delivered to the public with the inauguration of the the service,'' ''Moble ESPN will offer fans unique sports content on their cell phones, delivering not only voice service, but also applications such as easy access to sports news, information, commentary, analysis and sports statistics.

''Globally moble ESP has defined a new wireless category.

Accordingly, we are positioning this service around the promise that life will never get in the way of sports again,'' he said.

Sports fan can dial 505-ESPN(3776) or SMS ESPN(3776) to get into the service.

''Our goal is to extend our leadership and expertise in the television and web environment to a new wireless mobile environment that is becoming increasingly important to sports fans across the country,'' Mr Venkatesh said.

He said their target was to reach 100 million mobiles in the next five years.
