DMK donates money to party member losing eye in poll violence

Chennai, Oct 31 (UNI) The ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) today distributed a relief of Rs One lakh to a party office bearer who had lost one of his eyes in the violence ''unleashed by the opposition AIADMK'' in the recent Chennai Corporation elections.

Mr Karunanidhi presented the cheque, on behalf of the party, to Mr Thulasingam, the South Chennai party office bearer, who had lost his left eye in the violence, a party release here said.

Mr Thulasingam's eye got piereced in a brutal violence let lose by AIADMK candidate's husband and relatives during the poll, the release said.

Senior leaders Aroct N Veerasamy, M K Stalin and South Chennai District Secretary J Anbazhagan, were present on the occasion, the release added.
