Hyderabad, Oct 31 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh cabinet today approved a draft Bill to take away the posts of the Tirupati-Tirumala Devasthanam (TTD) Chairman and members from purview of the State Payment of Salaries and Pensions and Removal of Disqualification Act, 1953.

Briefing newspersons on the decisions taken by the Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, Information Minister Mohd Ali Shabeer said the Chairman or members did not receive any salary or other remuneration from the funds of the TTD except honororium or compensatory allowance or travelling daily and conveyance allowances as might be prescribed.

The TTD Trust Board did not come under the purview of the office of profit and did not incur disqualification and, as such the TTD Board might be incorporated in the schedule under section 10 of the Act through an amendment as suggested by the Law Department, according to the note circulated by the Government for the Cabinet's consideration.

The TTD Chairman or member of any committee, provided the holder of any such office was not in receipt of or entitled to any remuneration other than compensatory allowance, should not be disqualified for being chosen or for being a member of the Legislative Assembly.

Union Minister of State for Mines T Subbirami had been heading the TTD Board before he was made the minister, even as the office of profit issue led to disqualification of Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan and resignation of Congress President Sonia Gandhi from the Lok Sabha.
