BJP demands take over of Nizam Sugar Mills

Hyderabad, Oct 31 (UNI) Expressing concern over some pages of the House Committee report on privatisation of Nizam Sugar Mills going 'missing,' the BJP today wanted the Andhra Pradesh Government to immediately take over the mills privatised during the previous TDP regime..

Speaker K R Suresh Reddy should immediately initiate action against officers responsible for the missing pages so that people did not lose confidence in the democratic system, BJP National Secretary B Datattreya and Senior Party Leader Ch Vidyasagar Rao demanded at a press conference here.

Urging the state government to immediately convene an all party meeting to discuss the issue as also the power position, the BJP leaders maintained the government should not shirk its responsibility of ensuring adequate power to energise the pumpsets of farmers who had taken up full-fledged cultivation this year after droughts for many years.

Terming as a ''lie'' Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy's claim the state was unable to procure power from other states, they claimed that ''power can very much be procured in the non-peak season.'' Dr Reddy should immediately hold talks with his counterparts in neighbouring states, they demanded.
