Bavarian University signs MoU with IIIT-B

Bangalore, Oct 31 (UNI) The Bavarian University of Applied Sciences at Hof has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Indian Institute of Information Technology here for joint research and student exchange programmes.

This was revealed to newspersons here today at a news conference by Bavarian Economic Affairs Minister Erwin Huber, who led a delegation of over 30 eminent businessmen for a week-long visit to the country.

The delegation earlier visited the ongoing international expo Bangalore IT.in, where seven Bavarian exhibitors had displayed their products and services. They also visited major IT companies such as Wipro and machine tool company Bharat Fritz Werner.

The Minister called on Karnataka Governor T N Chaturvedi and Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and held discussions on wide ranging topics. Signing of an MoU between Bavaria and Karnataka was also planned during 2007 to further strengthen the ties between the two States, he said.

Stressing that Bavaria provided a perfect business climate for investment, Mr Huber said the trade between Bavaria and Bangalore was worth one billion Euro, while the trade between Germany and India was to the tune of seven billion Euro. While 30 Indian companies functioned in Bavaria, in India there were over 250 Bavarian companies, he revealed.

He said India could make use of the Satellite Navigation System set up by the European Union in Bavaria for various applications.

India could also participate in a summit planned during March next year as it was a global service, he added.
