ACCI concerned over non-availability of lower denomination currenc
Itanagar, Oct 31 (UNI) The Arunachal Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) has expressed concern over the non-availability of currency of lower denominations in the state.
ACCI general secretary Tarak Nachung Tariang informed here today that the chamber on September 14 had a series of meetings with Assistant General Managers and Chief Regional Manager of State Bank of India here and apprised them of the problems faced by the traders due to non-availability of Rs 50, Rs 20 and Rs 10 currency notes besides Rs 5, Rs 2 and Rs 1 coins.
Though the authorities had assured the chambers to make available all the lower denomination currencies, but till today only denominations of Rs 1000, Rs 500 and Rs 100 were available with the Bank, he informed and said the traders of the state had to depend on neighbouring states for such currency by paying extra money.
Urging the SBI authorities to give clarification on the matter within seven days, the ACCI further cautioned that if the authorities failed to provide lower denomination currencies to the traders and businessmen, the chambers would resort to non-cooperation movement with the financial institutions, Mr Nachung added.
