ABT forays into passenger transport service from tomorrow

Chennai, Oct 31 (UNI) Foraying into passenger transport service after a gap of more than four decades, ABT Ltd, the 75-year-old group company, is launching its "ABT X Travels" tomorrow.

ABT Limited, which had moved to parcel service after Tamil Nadu government nationalised the public transport in the state, is returning to passenger transport thanks to the infrastructural development.

ABT X Travels, to begin with, launches operations from three sectors tomorrow, Coimbatore-Chennai, Pollachi-Chennai and Tirupur-Chennai and from Chennai on November two.

People who dread long distance travel by bus would find the interiors and sophistication, comfortable for taking up the journey, ABT Group Managing Director M Manickam said.

"To ensure passenger safety, we have provided every seat with a seat belt and the GPS tracking facility, would help to track the movement of buses from the ABT Office," he said.

He said the company was planning special package tours to the pilgrim centres across the country and ply more buses, connecting about 40 major cities, including Bangalore, Thiruvananthapuram, Madurai, Pondicherry by March next.

The fare for the Coimbatore-Chennai and Pollachi-Chennai had been fixed at Rs 400 per seat and Tirupur-Chennai at Rs 375. The company had initiated the process of introducing e-ticketing facility for the passengers, he added.
