Yuvraj to use crutches; re-evaluation of injury in two weeks
Mumbai, Oct 30 (UNI) Team India Middle order batsman Yuvraj Singh, who injured his knee during practice at Mohali on Saturday, has been advised to use crutches to ease the load on his knee.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) today stated in a release that Yuvraj Singh met the cricket board-appointed doctor, Dr Anant Joshi, at the Lilavati Hospital here for a check up.
Dr Joshi said, ''There is a tear in the anterior cruciate ligament with some amount of bruising of the bone in the left knee. There is also swelling of the knees and accordingly I have recommended some exercises and use of crutches.'' The release further stated that the cricketer's condition will be re-evaluated after two weeks for determining further course of action.
Yuvraj Singh has been selected in the India team for the five match ODI series against South Africa in South Africa beginning November 19 subject to his fitness clearance. If he is not fit by the time the Indian team leaves for South Africa, then Dinesh Karthick will replace him.
