Women burn Big B's posters in Varanasi
Varanasi, Oct 30 (UNI) Over 200 women activists of a local NGO here today burnt posters of Amitabh Bachchan to protest the superstar's reported statement in which he expressed desire for a grand son from son Abhishek's marriage.
The women activists associated with 'Parivartan,' a local NGO, gathered at Hiramanpur under Sarnath police station area and burnt posters of the Bollywood superstar in protest against his recently reported statement expressing a wish for a grand son following Abhishek's marriage.
Terming Big B as ''anti-girl child'' the agitating women also shouted anti-Amitabh slogans like ''Ladka ladki ek saman Amitabh Bachchan murdabad.'' ''Big B is a star who is idolised by countless Indians across the world. His desire for a grandson and not a granddaughter smacks of male chauvinism which is against the spirit of gender equality.
Such statements can have far reaching implications for the entire society,'' convenor of Parivartan said Kanchana Singh.
