War against corruption in JK will continue: Azad

Srinagar, Oct 30: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has said that war against corruption in the state will continue.

The state ranked two on the list of most corrupt states in the country and the menance had entered every walk of life before he took over as Chief Minister chief, he said during a function here.

He said immediately after taking over, his government enacted a 'pioneering law' whereunder ill-gotten property of corrupt public servants could be confiscated.

This type of law is unique in the world, he claimed and said the war against corruption will continue till the last corrupt official was punished under the law.

Praising the State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) for the work done during the past one year against corrupt officials, he said properties of eight state government officials have already been confiscated which have been found disproportionate to their known sources of income.

The Chief Minister said 45 cases are under investigation while raids had been carried out on 50 such properties across the state.
