Talsara Assembly bypoll records over 65 per cent polling
Rourkela, Oct 30 (UNI) Over 65 per cent of 1.47 lakh voters today exercised their franchise to decide the fate of ten candidates for the byelection to the Talsara (ST) assembly constituency in Orissa Official sources said polling was peaceful and no untoward incident was reported from any part of the constituency.
The authorities had deployed adequate police for smooth conduct of the election.
The bypoll was necessitated following the death of Congress MLA Gajadhar Majhi.
Although ten candidates were in the fray, the battle for ballot would mainly be confined between BJP's Sahadev Khakha and Congress' Dr Prafulla Majhi.
Counting of the ballots would be taken up on November two, the sources said.
