Single Window clears setting up of 482 industries
Udupi, Oct 30 (UNI) Karnataka Minister for Heavy Industry Katta Subramanya Naidu today said the Single Window system, from February till October this year, has approved starting of 482 industries with a total investment of Rs 96.50 crore and it was expected to generate employment to over six crore youth.
Talking to newspersons here, he said that the government was making all out efforts to attract industrialists to set up industries in Gulbarga, Hubli-Dharwad and Shimoga.
Mr Naidu said under the Two-Tier City Development scheme, more thrust would be given to promote IT/BT, Tourism, Gem and Jewellery, Garment and Automobile industries in the coastal districts of Udupi, Daxina Kannada and Uttar Kannada.
He said the Centre was approached for establishment of more Special Economic Zones for economic and industrial development of the State.
Mr Naidu disclosed that four private agencies have come forward to build a port in Karwar and have sought 25,000 acres of land for the purpose. The offer was seriously considered by the government as it would enhance the export-import activities of the region. With similar private participation, the Governments of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, have taken up the project of building major ports at Tuticorin and Krishnapattanam (in Nellore) respectively, he added.
