Sensex opens strong by 19 points

Mumbai, Oct 30: The Bombay Stock Exchange Senstive Index (sensex) opened with a positive marginal gap of 19 points at 12,925.43 as buying emerged early in the trade.

Currently the sensex is trading 38.61 points up at 12,945.42 compared to the previous close.

The investors also took cue from the firm global markets. The midcap and smallcap indices are up by 0.49 and 0.41 per cent.

Besides major sectoral indices on BSE are trading in the green.

However, Consumer Durables is down by 1.16 per cent and IT is down by 0.80 per cent on account of increased selling of the stocks.

The pack of gainers on the BSE-30 index is led by Dr Reddys lab and is followed by L&T, Bharti Airtel, Reliance Communications, ICICI Bank, Hindalco, Grasim Industries, Reliance Energy, HLL and Tata Motors all up between 0.93 to 3.69 per cent.

Besides the losers on the index are Wipro, BHEL, Satyam, HDFC, TCS,ONGC, Infosys, ITC and Ranbaxy all down between 0.07 to 2.11 per cent.
