SEC to deploy central forces in 4 nagar nigam polls tomorrow

Lucknow, Oct 30 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh state election commission has directed deployment of central forces in Allahabad, Kanpur, Varanasi and Gorakhpur for tomorrow's nagar nigam and mayoral polling.

The SEC also ordered intensive video coverage of polling booths in 11 nagar nigams.

SEC sources told UNI here one company each of central forces had been rushed to the four cities to maintain law and order during the polling process.

The centre had alloted five companies of central forces to UP during the three-tier urban local body polls in the state being held in three phases.

The Commission has also directed all the district authorities to ensure wide coverage through videography of the polling booths and in the sensitive areas during the polling.

SEC is holding elections for the urban local bodies in three phases on October 28, 31 and November 3.
