Rallies to protest Chhat Puja evening blasts
Guwahati, Oct 30 (UNI) Separate rallies were taken out in the city today to protest the bomb blasts at a Chhat Puja celebration venue.
A child was killed and several others were injured in two consecutive blasts at Sunsalighat on banks of the Brahmaputra river in Noonmati area here on Saturday evening.
Supporters of the All Assam Bhojuri Yuba Manch and all India Bhojpuri Bihari Chatra Parishad participated in the two protest rallies.
One group marched from the spot of the blasts to the Deputy Commissioner's office while another demonstrated near the state secretariat.
Meanwhile, the All Asopm Students' Union (AASU) and Asom Public Works (APW) have condemned the blasts.
AASU advisor Sammujal Bhattacharyya urged all communities to maintain communal harmony and condemned the incident in the strongest words.
APW president Abhijit Sharma also condemned the incident.
