Quest inks pact with Magellan Aerospace for manufacturing foray

Bangalore, Oct 30 (UNI) Quest, offering end-to-end product development and engineering solutions to global majors, today entered into a ten-year strategic agreement with Magellan Aerospace, one of the largest aerospace suppliers, marking its foray into aerospace manufacturing to supply precision machined components.

Speaking to newspersons after inking the pact, Quest President and CEO Aravind Melligeri said that as per the agreement, Quest, through its subsidiary Quest Machining and Manufacturing, would expand its wings into aerospace manufacturing with an investment of over 25 million US Dollars in the next three years.

He said the investment would go towards setting up state-of-the-art infrastructure and machinery, to be commissioned in the proposed Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Belgaum in Karnataka.

The company had bagged an initial order of five million Dollar from Magellan Aerospace for supplying aircraft components, including landing gear parts for Boeing 747, 777 and 787.

Mr Melligeri said the venture by Quest with Magellan brought together manufacturing technology, assets and experience necessary to provide value-added manufacturing solutions in the rapidly growing Indian aerospace industry and help its customers meet offset requirements.

He said India offered a vast opportunity in aerospace sector, with over 500 per cent growth in passenger and 300 per cent growth in cargo business in the domestic domain in the next four years.

Magellan Aerospace Vice-President (Strategic Global Sourcing) Konard Hahnet, who was also present, said that taking into account Quest's capabilities, his company had entered into a strategic relation with it.
