New Delhi, Oct 30 (UNI) Despite 58 fresh cases of dengue and one death reported in the Capital in the past 24 hrs, the disease in Delhi was on the decline with expectations rising that the virus may finally make its exit by weekend.

While the total number of those affected by the deadly virus in Delhi had climbed to 2,595, the disease has so far claimed 59 lives, of which 50 are from the Capital alone.

Among the cases reported during the past 24 hours, ending 1000 hrs this morning, 1,586 were from Delhi.

At AIIMS, 12 new patients were admitted to the dengue ward even as 19 were discharged in the past 24 hours. With this total number of dengue patients in the hospital rose to 183.

Another 20 odd people are under observation, said AIIMS Medical Superintendent Dr D K Sharma who said dengue cases were gradually coming down.

''Maybe by the weekend we may see the end of it,'' he added.
