OGP demands CBI inquiry into DIG killing
Bhubaneswar, Oct 30 (UNI) Stating that the Crime Branch has lost its credibility, the Orissa Gana Parishad(OGP) today demanded a CBI inquiry into the recent killing of DIG Jaswinder Singh by his own Personal Security Officer.
OGP president Bijaya Mohapatra told newspersons here that Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik ''cut a very sorry figure'' when he demanded para military forces and alerted the three neighbouring states soon after the DIG's killing.
Mr Patnaik had failed to verify the facts of the killing of the DIG and came out with request to the Centre to deploy the para military forces to tackle the naxalite activities, he said.
Mr Mohapatra alleged that the crime branch was in real sense functioning from the residence of the Chief Minister and in all sensitive cases, be it the tender fixing or the murder in ruling BJD MLA's official residence, the matter had been deliberately given to the crime branch for investigation.
The OGP leader said the crime branch had failed to file the investigation report in some of the important cases entrusted to it by the Chief Minister in the past.
