New director to head NIC
New Delhi, Oct 30 (UNI) The National Informatics Centre (NIC) that provides Information Technology solutions to the government apart from hosting websites will be headed by Dr B K Gairola, who has been appointed as its new Director General.
NIC is the independent office under the Ministry of Communication and IT and provides information technology solutions to Government Ministries and Departments.
The NICNET is one of the largest networks in the country and NIC's presence permeates at the district and block level.
Dr Gairola has been with NIC since its inception and has been associated with major projects like the Ministry of External Affairs, Prime Minister's Office, Cabinet Secretariat, and Ministry of Home Affairs.
His assumption of the key post comes at a time when the IT revolution is beginning to engage the Government of India at a serious level. The technology governance interface is gaining momentum and the results are getting visible for the common man.
