Kerala HC directs Kochi Corp. to file affdvt. within two days

Kochi, Oct 30 (UNI) The Kerala High Court today directed the Kochi Corporation to file an affidavit within two days regarding the arrangements for waste disposal after the October 31 deadline set by the Naval authorities for the use of Wellingdon Island expires.

A division bench consisting of Chief Justice V K Bali and Justice P R Raman expressed dissatisfaction at the Corporation's submission made in an earlier affidavit. The Court opined that this was a very serious issue and the Corporation has to consider it as such.

The Court made these observations while hearing the petition filed by Dijo Kappan, seeking effective steps from the Corporation to prevent the outbreak of diseases like chikangunya.
