Joint India-Pak control not acceptable, implement UN resolution, HC

Srinagar, Oct 30 (UNI) The breakaway Hurriyat Conference's majlis shoura, iths highest decision making body, today said that lasting peace in South-Asia was possible only when the Kashmir issue is resolved as per the wishes of the people.

The Shoura, which met here today at the Rajbagh headquarters of the HC under the chairmanship of Syed Ali Shah Geelani, alleged that India was not sincere in finding a peaceful solution to the Kashmir issue.

A spokesman of the HC, Aiyaz Akbar said that the shoura meeting, attended by all the constituents of the amalgam, said that the Kashmir issue could be resolved only by implementing the resolutions passed in the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

However, he said, the HC would accept any solution which will emerge from the tripartite talks between India, Pakistan and the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

He said the shoura rejected the self-rule formula of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a coalition partner in the state government.

The shoura said that former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is visiting United States and UN with the ''agenda of the Indian government.'' ''Mufti did not represent the people of the Jammu and Kashmir,'' he said.

Mr Akbar said the leaders of the constituent parties spoke in detail about the present situation in the valley.

They expressed serious concern over the Human Rights (HR) violation by the security forces.

He said the shoura also rejected the internal greater autonomy, joint control of India and Pakistan and soft border proposal. These are just to mislead the world community, he said adding these could not be an alternative to the cause for which lakhs of people have made sacrifices.
