Jaya, leaders pay tributes to freedom fighter

Chennai, Oct 30 (UNI) AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalithaa and leaders of various political parties paid floral tributes to freedom fighter 'Pasumpon' U Muthuramalinga Thevar on his 98th birth anniversary today.

Ms Jayalalithaa garlanded the Thevar statue at Nandanam here and paid her respects to the late leader. Former AIADMK Ministers O Panneerselvam, K A Sengottaiyan, D Jayakumar, senior party functionaries and hundreds of cadres also paid their tributes.

Union Shipping, Road Transport and Highways Minister T R Baalu, State Ministers Arcot N Veerasamy, Ko Si Mani, Parithi Ilamvazhuthi and Poongothai and Chennai Corporation Mayor M Subramaniam also paid floral tributes to Thevar.

Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) President M Krishnasamy, Union Minister G K Vasan, former Union Minister K V Thangabalu and A K Moorthy and BJP leader Tamizhisai Soundararajan were among those who garlanded the Thevar statue and paid their respect to the late leader.
