INTUC to boycott Dunlop's inaugural function

Kolkata, Oct 30 (UNI) The INTUC has decided to boycott tomorrow's inaugural function at the Sahagunj unit of Dunlop India Ltd.

The trade union alleged ''differential treatment'' with them.

INTUC's West Bengal unit's general secretary Pramathes Sen said the union took the decision after the management allegedly decided to bar the union representatives from entering the function.

Instead, the management has decided to give the union members gifts following the programme, Mr Sen alleged.

After years of closure, the Sahagunj unit is scheduled to open tomorrow.

Dunlop's other unit at Ambattur had become functional recently after the ailing tyremaker was taken over by the Pawan Ruia group from the Chhabria group.

Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Heavy Industries Minister Santosh Mohan Dev will attend the function.
