International tennikoit tourney in Yavatmal next month

Nagpur, Oct 30 (UNI) A two-day international tenni-koit tournament will be held in Yavatmal next month with participation of teams from South Africa, Brazil, Bangladesh and Pakistan besides hosts India.

Addressing a press conference here today, Vijay Darda, MP and chairman of the reception committee, said the matches would be held on November 12 and 13 on six courts being set up in Yavatmal. The matches would be held for men's singles and doubles, women's singles and doubles and mixed doubles, he said. The tournament would be played on knock-out basis, with each match being best-of-five.

Darda said there would be ten players in each team, five men and five women, in addition to the coach and the manager. The Indian team would be selected this evening in Chennai, where a camp was in progress, he said.

The tournament has been recognised by the international federation that governs the game, Darda informed.
