Himachal face innings defeat against Punjab
Patiala, Oct 30 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh were precariously placed against the formidable Punjab with innings defeat staring them in the face, in the North Zone Inter-State C K Nayadu (Under-22) Trophy on the second day at the Dhruv Pandove Cricket Stadium here today.
Resuming their innings today, Punjab, who were 157 for 2 yesterday, piled up a huge total of 362 for 6 when their skipper declared the innings.
Ravi Inder Singh, who was unbeaten on 89 yesterday, was out for 94.He hit 12 fours and a six, but was unlucky to miss the ton.
Sarabjit scored a fine century and was unbeaten on 100, hitting 15 fours. Gurkirat scored 69 which included 6 fours.
For Himachal Pradesh, Mohinder Sharma bowled his heart out to capture 4 wickets, conceding 75 runs.
In their second innings, Himachal Pradesh floundered once again and were 60 for six when the play was called off due to bad light.
Amanpreet Singh took 3 wickets, giving away 22 runs, and Varun Khanna captured 2 for 15. S Rattan was unbeaten on 9 and Sanjay Trama was yet to score when the umpires called off the play.
