Haryana to create fund for infrastructure

Chandigarh, Oct 30 (UNI) The Haryana Cabinet gave its approval to Town and Country Planning Department's proposal for creation of fund for the development of major infrastructure in Haryana.

The fund, to be administered by the High Power Committee headed by the Chief Minister, will cater to the requirement of major projects like inter-city mass rapid transit system, major water supply schemes and power facilities.

The Cabinet also approved the proposal of the department for the increase of rates of the licence fees and conversion charges by five per cent only in hyper and high potential zones.

In the medium and low potential towns no increase in licence fees and conversion charges has been effected.

The Cabinet also approved the proposal of Revenue Department to increase the rates of registration fee in order to augment the State Revenue to meet the increased development expenditure.

The Government also decided to increase the remuneration of Lambardars from three per cent to ten per cent with effect from January one 2006 for the collection of water rates from the cultivators.

The additional seven per cent financial burden, which is about Rs 2.06 crore annually, would be borne by the Irrigation Department, the spokesman said.

The Cabinet also gave relaxation in norms for the construction of village road bridge over canals and drains to solve the problem of the villagers to a large extent and to avoid expensive land acquisition required for providing passage from bridge to consolidation path.
