Haryana exempts VAT on goods for Metro
Chandigarh, Oct 30 (UNI) The Haryana government today decided to exempt all goods from levy of VAT (except goods mentioned in Schedule D) sold to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRCL) for completion of Gurgaon Metro corridor.
The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting, presided over by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, on the recommendation of the Excise and Taxation Department.
The exemption would be subject to furnishing of a certificate from an authorised officer of Delhi metro Rail Corporation Limited to the effect that the goods had been used for completion of Gurgaon Section of Gurgaon Metro Corridor.
As far as exemption under the Haryana Local Area Development Tax Act, 2000, the same shall not be required, as the structure being constructed by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited is otherwise taxable and hence not covered under local Area Development Tax (LADT).
