GlaxoSmithKline Q2 net profit at Rs 285.43 cr

New Delhi, Oct 30: GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals today reported a net profit of Rs 285.43 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2006, as against to Rs 309.33 crore for the same period last year.

The company's total income stood at Rs 424.51 crore for the quarter as against Rs 438.41 crore for the corresponding quarter previous year.

It said that leading to the sale of its Animal Health business as a going concern to Virbac Animal Health India Pvt Ltd for Rs 207.10 crore, effective from the close of business hours of July 31, 2006, the figures were to that extent not comparable.

Animal Health business forms part of the company's 'other businesses' segment.
