Former Haryana MLA Dead

Kaithal, Oct 30 (UNI) Former Haryana Assembly member Raghunath Goel died here today following illness.

He was 90.

Mr Goel was bed-ridden for some time. His body was cremated here this evening. His funeral procession was attended by large number of people, including leaders of various political parties and representatives from social organizations and educational institutions.

Mr Goel was elected MLA in 1977 from Kaithal during the Janta Party wave. Known for his honesty and simplicity, he used to move on a bi-cycle even after being elected MLA. He was easily approachable to the people.

Mr Goel had started his political carrier as an RSS worker and always remained associated with political parties like Jan Sangh and later with BJP.

During his long political life, he had participated in many agitations launched by these parties and was jailed during Emergency.
