Ferrous metal down; non-ferrous up in line with LME

Mumbai, Oct 30 (UNI) Ferrous metal declined on sustained heavy selling pressure while non-ferrous rose on reduced stock supply in line with London Metal Exchange, traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange said today.

In the ferrous section, brass cuttings, brass utensils and aluminium utensils declined by Rs 200 each per quintal while copper utensils eased by Rs 100 per quintal on sustained heavy selling pressure.

In non-ferrous category, aluminium ingots and zinc slab rose by Rs 100 and Rs 200 per quintal respectively on improved demand along with London Metal Exchange.

Following were the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: Copper heavy - Rs 36,800, copper utensils - Rs 32,700, brass utensils - Rs 22,900, brass cuttings - Rs 27,000 and aluminium utensils - Rs 11,200.

Non-ferrous metals: Copper wire bars - Rs 41,100, aluminium ingots - Rs 13,500, zinc slab - Rs 22,200, lead ingots - Rs 7,800, tin slab - Rs 570 (per kg) and nickel cathode - Rs 1,960 (per kg).
