Employment for 23,000 youths, Agri

Srinagar, Oct 30: Twenty-three thousand unemployed youths, all the Agriculture and engineering graduates are being recruited in the Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad announced.

He said the government has already removed the ban on employment in state government departments which was enforced for the past one decade.

The government has also identified 23,000 vacancies of which about 15,000 have been referred to recruiting agencies including Public Service Commission (PSC), he said.

Three more battalions of police have been raised, more than 1,000 engineers have been engaged on contractual basis and orders for engaging all unemployed engineers have been issued, Mr Azad announced at a function here.

He said the cabinet has also approved engagement of Agriculture Graduates on monthly stipend.

Mr Azad also informed that salaries of Special Police Officers (SPO's) and freedom fighters have been doubled.

He said the number of Indian Reserve Police (IRP) battalions have also been raised to provide employment to unemployed youths in the state.
