DMK sacks office bearers, show cause notice to legislator
Chennai, Oct 30 (UNI) Amid charges that it had ''usurped posts'' allotted to its allies, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) today sacked 55 office bearers and issued a show cause notice to one more legislator for violating party discipline.
Two days after sacking 18 office bearers and issuing show cause notices to three legislators, DMK General Secretary K Anbazhagan today announced the sacking of 55 office bearers from seven districts for disobeying party directives in the indirect elections to the local bodies, a party release here said.
Mr Anbazhagan also issued a show cause notice to Kulithalai R Manickam seeking explanation following complaints that he had violated party discipline, the release said.
Those who faced the axe were from Coimbatore, Pudukottai, Karur, Tiruvallur, Salem and Ramanathapuram districts. A maximum of 23 office bearers have been sacked from Ramanathapuram district followed by 13 from Karur district.
On October 28, the party had sacked 18 office bearers from five districts and had issued show cause notices to party MLAs- Appavu, Udhayam Shanmugam and K P Ramasamy on charges of violating party discipline.
The disciplinary action comes in the wake of charges levelled by the Congress and Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), allies in the DMK-led Democratic Progressive Alliance that the party, had ''usurped the posts'' in various local bodies, after allotting them to the allies.
