Delhi Master Plan 2021 by January end: Reddy

New Delhi, Oct 30 (UNI) Delhi Master Plan 2021 is expected to be ready by January end, Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy today said.

"The Urban Development Ministry would try to expedite the process to finalise the Delhi Master Plan 2021 by the end of January 2007," he told members of the Consultative Committee attached to his Ministry.

He also said that he would be interacting with Chief Ministers of of the National Capital Region (NCR) more frequently for effective implementation of projects under the NCR Planning Board.

During the discussion, a member suggested that the central government should give 80 per cent subsidy on the projects under the NCR Planning Board to the states. It was also suggested that a Development Board should be set for the Region also.

Earlier Mr Reddy briefed the members about the outcome of the Tejender Khanna Committee appointed by the Ministry to look into various aspects of unauthorised constructions and misuse of premises in Delhi.

He said on the basis of the Khanna Committee report, two more committees--one headed K.K. Mathur on unauthorised constructions in farm houses and another headed by P.P. Srivastava to look into the unauthorised construction in Lal Dora and extended Lal Dora areas had been set up.

Besides the Government had cleared the extension of Metro-II to Gurgaon at an estimated cost of Rs 1402 crore. The first corridor of Mumbai Metro Rail Project had also been approved for which the Union Government would be giving 20 per cent of the cost in the form of viability gap funding.

The Urban Development Minister said the Government also earmarked Rs 400 crore Pooled Finance Development Fund to help municipalities to access the capital markets.
