Cong putting hurdles in devt works: Kumaraswamy
Mysore, Oct 30 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today alleged that the Congress in the State was trying to obstruct developmental works by bringing pressure on the Election Commission to announce date for the byelection to the Chamundeswari Assembly constituency.
Addressing the party's block presidents and workers' meeting here, he said that for the last one week, he had been receiving information that the Congress was trying to stall developmental works and he had records to prove it.
He denied that his party had written to the EC to postpone the bypoll in Chamundeswari constituency, which fell vacant following former Deputy Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's resignation prior to joining the Congress. His party was ready to face the electorate and developmental works had been taken up not only in this constituency, but all over the State.
Countering the Opposition charge that the Government was misusing official machinery in Chamundeswari, he said since the election date had not been announced by the EC, there was no question of misuse of official machinery.
Earlier, the Chief Minister handed over the party flag to various party block presidents and workers of the constituency.
