Check post help centre launched in Walayar

Palakkad, Oct 30 (UNI) Kerala Finance Minister Thomas Issac said today that the government had given the necessary sanction for acquiring 25 acres of land at Walayar to develop the check post facility.

Inaugurating the 'check post help centre' at Walayar, he said the help centre was aimed at avoiding the difficulties being faced by traders for fast movement of goods.

He said after the implementation of Value Added Tax, the government was expecting a revenue of Rs 4,600 crore in a year. Out of this, the government would give one per cent to the traders for organising trade fairs every year.

Later, inaugurating the Pravasi State Committee Meeting here, he pointed out that though the earnings of NRIs were very high, their investment in the state was poor.

The government would take all steps to promote more investment in the state, he added.
